People all over the world are putting life on hold right now to watch their favorite teams compete in the world cup. This is an event that creates a kind of extreme fanaticism that cannot be matched by other events. People love their teams and cheer their hearts out when their team steps onto the field.
Yesterday at 252 your kids were taught about how encouragement can be like a pep rally, or even a world cup came. When you encourage someone, your cheering them on. You're letting them know that you're on their side, and you're their fan. In 252 the kids heard about the difference between "loser" words (words that hurt people) and "winner" words (words that lift people up). Ask your kids what some of these words are, and then ask them what they should do this week to better encourage a sibling, or neighbor, or family member.
Fell free to send them my way, I could always use some more encouragement. Couldn't we all?

We've always loved this illustration! Thanks for speaking it out to us again. We also try to use this example of what God is worthy of receiving during our praise and worship. Surely He is greater than any sports team or individual out there!
