Uniqueness - Odd Man Out

Do you believe God can use anybody?  What about social outcasts who eat bugs and have poor hygiene?  Well he did in the life of John the Baptist.  John would not fit the mold of a church leader in our day, but he was God's chosen man to proclaim repentance before the coming of the son of God.

This week in 252 we'll talk about John and the way that God made him unique and then used him in a unique way.  We believe God created every single child in our church in a unique way for a unique purpose.  Will you as parents join with us to challenge our kids this week to think about how God has made them unique?

November: Uniqueness

During the month of November the kids in 252 Kidzone will be learning about Uniqueness.  Here are the bottom lines and scripture passages for each week:

11/7 God made everybody different. Judges 4:1-24
11/14 God made everybody a somebody. Judges 6:11-7:22
11/21 God can use anybody to share his message.  Matthew 3:1-6
11/28 God gave everybody special abilities.  1 Corinthians 12:1-11

October: Initiative

There are only two weeks left in October which means that your kids only have two more chances to learn about taking initiative in 252.  Here are the topics for the next two weeks:

10/24 When you've done what you can do, trust God to do what he can do.  Neh 6:15-16; 8:1-3a, 17b

10/31 If someone asks you what you believe what will you say? Acts 8:26-39

Parents Day in 252 a Success!

We had a great Sunday with all of our parent guests in 252 this week! We continued to learn about respect and our Respect Inspector came to see how the kids were doing in their respect level.  It was great to see so many parents and children there.  I hope this was a great way for the visiting parents to learn more about 252 and how they can connect with what their kids are learning every week.  I hope all of you parents that came pay close attention to the cards your children were given as they left.  Life can be busy but I hope you will take time to connect with your children by working with them on those cards. And remember we reward the kids when they bring back their completed Godtime cards because we recognize how very important they are, so encourage them to bring those back!

September in 252 is Respect month.  We will be talking about respect all month.  This past Sunday our focus was:
You respect God when you show respect for people in charge. (Romans 13:1-7)

Here is the plan for the rest of the month:
9/12  - You can show respect with your actions. (1 Samuel 18; 19; 24)
9/19 - You can show respect with your words. (James 3:9-12)
9/26 - Show respect to God because He's in charge of everything. (Matthew 8:5-13)

Parents Breakfast in 252

Sunday September 12th will be a very special day for our kids in 252.  That morning we are inviting all parents of 252 kids to come for breakfast at 9:00.  You as parents will get to see firsthand all of the exciting things that happen every week.  That day we will be learning about Respect and will tell the story about David making the decision to not take Saul's life when he had the opportunity.  Why did he do that?  Why did he have so much respect for Saul and his position as King?

Those would be great things to talk about with your kids afterwards, so why don't you come and hear the story alongside your children?
Hope to see you there!

Virtue Videos

Hey parents,

Did you know that every month you can watch a video online that introduces you to the virtue your kids will learn about that month?

Currently the videos for August (Peace), September (Respect), and October (Initiative) are all posted online for you to view.

Last Week of Service in 252

July has been a fabulous month in 252 as we have been looking at the importance of serving others all month.

We've even had some of our high school students set the example for the younger kids by volunteering in 252 this month.

So far this month we've looked at:

July 4 - What in the world are you doing that's more than you have to do?
July 11 - What in the world are you doing to help someone others won't help?
July 18 - What in the world are you doing to put others first?

Sunday July 18 your children were challenged to find a way to put a friend or family member first this week.  Did you see them live it out?  We'd love to know if you did.

This week we'll be asking them:

What in the world are you doing that only God knows?

Service isn't just about doing things so others can see and be impressed with you, service is really about serving God.

That's how we'll challenge your kids this week.

What in the world are you doing to encourage others with your words?

People all over the world are putting life on hold right now to watch their favorite teams compete in the world cup.  This is an event that creates a kind of extreme fanaticism that cannot be matched by other events.  People love their teams and cheer their hearts out when their team steps onto the field.

Yesterday at 252 your kids were taught about how encouragement can be like a pep rally, or even a world cup came.  When you encourage someone, your cheering them on.  You're letting them know that you're on their side, and you're their fan.  In 252 the kids heard about the difference between "loser" words (words that hurt people) and "winner" words (words that lift people up).  Ask your kids what some of these words are, and then ask them what they should do this week to better encourage a sibling, or neighbor, or family member.

Fell free to send them my way, I could always use some more encouragement.  Couldn't we all?

What in the world are you doing to take care of what God made?

Parents,
This is the question your kids were asked in 252 yesterday.  They learned about God's creation and the responsibility given to Adam and Eve.  They were challenged to be responsible themselves in taking care of what God has made.

Responsibility is showing you can be trusted with what is expected of you.

Here's a question for your kids:
Why does God give us responsibilities?
And here's a question for you to discuss with your kids:
What were your responsibilities as a child?

This week's memory verse:
Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.  Luke 16:10a NIV

Responsibility in 252

This month the kids in 252 Kidzone will be learning about responsibility.  Each week the will be challenged to be responsible by being asked "what in the world are you doing?"  The main ideas for the four weeks are:

6/6 - What in the world are you doing to take care of what God made?  Gen 1:27-28
6/13 - What in the world are you doing to use what God gave you?  Matt 25:14-29
6/20 - What in the world are you doing to encourage others with your words?  Eph 4:29
6/27 - What in the world are you doing to show others God’s goodness?  Matt 5:14-16

If you want to follow up with what your kids are learning.  Check out the GOD Time Cards and Refrigerator cards that your kids will be given each week.
